Long before I ever stepped onto a TEDx stage to talk about Scar Power, I carried it as a story I didn’t yet know how to tell. Or whether I could.

This lyric from the Indigo Girls song, Closer to Fine, captures that feeling perfectly, “I’m trying to tell you something ‘bout my life…”

They wrote it as an anthem for honesty, for the moment when our truth finally finds its way out, even if our voice shakes a little when we speak it.

Each one of us carries a story we’ve only half told. Sharing it doesn’t require perfection, just courage and spark.

Our stories make us luminous.
